The CIF 2007 - 2008 Teacher Winter Workshop for participating CIF teachers was held November 15- 17, 2007, in Monterey, California. A report on the CIF Teacher Workshop for 2007 - 2008 by Masako Toki, CIF Project Director, is available.
Teachers from ten schools in Russia plus the NCEIC (Nuclear Cities Education Information Center) attended the Workshop along with teachers from nine U.S. high schools, the CIF staff, and speakers from the Graduate School of International Policy Studies, the Naval Postgraduate School and Lawrence Livermore National Lab (LLNL). Altogether, there were 40 participants in attendance for the workshop.
The workshop agenda began at 8:30am Thursday, November 15, and ran through 4:15pm on Saturday, November 17. Presenters from CNS, the Graduate School of International Policy Studies, LLNL, and the Naval Postgraduate School provided information about the topic "Nuclear Renaissance: Benefits versus Risks" to the teacher participants to assist them in building their curricular approach to meet the CIF benchmarks for 2007-2008.
The teacher participants have returned to their respective schools to work with other CIF teachers and their students who are involved in the CIF project to develop their responses the the CIF 2007-2008 topic and benchmarks. http://www.criticalissuesforum.org/wkshp_07.html |
